The Streets Department is responsible for maintaining the streets and alleys, including traffic lights, signals, street signs, building and grounds, fleet and equipment, and snow removal.
The City of Mt. Shasta recently purchased a new Street Sweeper which is Tier III compliant and PM-10 certified. This means that it creates fewer diesel emissions and dust particulate matter from sweeping operations. Residents may also notice that it is much quieter than the old machine. The City typically sweeps every Friday, beginning at 4:00 am. It is helpful if citizens can have all vehicles off the street during this process to insure that streets are adequately cleaned.
