The Animal Control Department is operated within the Mt. Shasta Police Department and handles all domestic animal calls within the City Limits of Mt. Shasta. Dog licenses are issued by this department every June, delinquent in July and are renewable on an annual basis.
Animal Control Officer enforces (California Animal Law) and responds to:
- Public complaints: Such as Dog Bites, violations of Leash Law
- Animal Rescue
- Conflict resolution
- Education for pet owners
- Interdepartmental relations
- Contracts with Siskiyou Humane Society for: impounds, adoptions, they also provide microchip, education services, pet training.
